Frederick William Pirie (Fred)

Peacefully in the loving care of the Woodlands on 24th November 2020, Fred aged 86 years of Accrington. The devoted husband of the late Joan, much loved dad of Steven, Ian and the late Philip and cherished grandad of Dawn and Simon.

Former Accrington Stanley player, Fred made the move to Accrington in 1954 when he was scouted from his home town of Perth, Scotland. The rest of his working life was spent as a manual worker working in local factories including Mullards and Pressparts, Blackburn from where he retired.
In his spare time Fred enjoyed fishing and walking, and each weekend he enjoyed a trip to the bookies to have a flutter on the horses. He was truly devoted to his beloved wife Joan and they did everything together. Fred and Joan enjoyed many happy holidays both around the UK and abroad, travelling as far as America. He was a fan of Neil Diamond and had been to see him live on several occasions.
