Freda Mary Wood

On 18th August 2020 peacefully at her home in Simonstone, Freda aged 84 years. The dearly loved wife of the late Derek, much loved mum of Mark and Nicola, dear mother in law of Fern and loving nana of Faye and Frazer and great grandma of Fe.

Freda and her first husband Stuart, were well known in the Accrington area working in their DIY shop, Homemakers, in Accrington.

Freda later met and married Derek and they shared a love of golf holidays and sunshine. Many happy times were spent at their various homes in Spain, enjoying the beautiful weather and playing golf. Freda enjoyed being in company and was a popular and lovely lady. She had also been a talented artist and painted the most beautiful watercolours, mainly of flowers, plants and gardens. She also enjoyed tapestry and was a great cook. Freda adored being a grandma and was patient, loving and kind. She was also thrilled to become great grandma to beautiful baby Fe, just four months ago. Freda delighted in times spent with her family.

Although Freda had known me since I was 4 years old, its only in the last few years we have become close agaon. My last link to Whalley and Lancashire. Always so kind to me and said I was part of her family. I will never forget those kind words. RIP.
