Florence Margaret Lilian Boothman ‘Margaret’

Peacefully with her children at her side at Pendleside Hospice on 29th April 2020, Margaret aged 95 years of Whalley. The devoted wife of the late Harold, much loved and loving mum of David and Anne, dear mother-in-law of Stella, cherished grandma of Mark, the late Christopher, Ben and Josie and also a loved relative and friend.

Margaret was born in Blackburn, where she spent most of her life, moving to Whalley with her husband Harold in their retirement. She worked as a dressmaker and seamstress for the early part of her working life and at Phillips during the second world war making valves for ratio sets.  She went on to work part time in the family business.  Having adopted two children, David and Anne, she also fostered many other children.  Margaret’s main passion was gardening and as well as tending her own she visited many of the formal gardens in the UK and Europe with her husband.
