Eric Martindale

Cherished and devoted family man

Peacefully on 26th May 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family, Eric, aged 81 years of Rishton. The dearly loved husband of Margaret, devoted dad of Joanne and Tracey, dear father-in-law of Mark and Glenn, loving grandad of Lucy, Matthew, Louis, Eve and Rory, dear brother of Peggy and the late Frank and also dear brother-in-law of Peter.

Eric started work as an apprentice draughtsman at the Royal Ordnance Factory. He then became a project manager and was based in Euxton for the rest of his career. Eric loved his work and each day gave his very best. Retiring early gave Eric lots of time to enjoy life. He loved his golf and was a member for many years at Wilpshire Golf Club. He loved his fish and chips too and also enjyed a pint, having many a happy evening at the Tory Club. He used to nip in for for a pint on his way to get the fish and chips and usually ended up having more than just one, telling his Margaret that the queue for the chip shop went right round the corner! He also enjoyed watching TV, especially horse racing, sports and Westerns. He liked a flutter but didn’t often win. Most importantly, Eric loved his grandchildren. With lots of babysitting, he also helped them with their maths. He was a most proud and loving grandad.
