Memorial Book

Peacefully, in hospital, on 17th March 2025, Liz, aged 56 years, of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted mum and best friend to Lisa, whom she loved to the moon and back. A cherished niece, cousin, and a loyal friend to many. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Liz moved to England as a young girl with her family. She had a deep passion for music, with Queen and David Bowie among her favourites. She loved attending gigs and concerts, often with her beloved daughter by her side. The bond between Liz and Lisa was unbreakable, though they sometimes clashed, they were, above all, best friends. A devoted animal lover, Liz provided a warm and loving home to many four-legged companions over the years. She had a heart of gold, loyal, trustworthy, and a friend for life to those lucky enough to know her. But she also had a fiery spirit, she called a spade a spade and was never afraid to speak her mind. Liz was a well-known and much-loved figure in the craft world, formerly running ‘Pendle Stitches,’ where she made many friendships with loyal customers. She had an endless love for crafts and was always on the hunt for her next project. A natural teacher, she took great joy in sharing her vast knowledge and skills with others. A true fighter, Liz faced life with courage and determination, always looking for the positives. She was bright, bubbly, and loved colour—so, in her honour, please wear something colourful to her funeral service to reflect the vibrant spirit she brought into the world. Family flowers only, please but donations are being gratefully received in Liz’s memory, on behalf of Pug Life Rescue. To make a donation please click the blue donate button at the bottom of this page. A donation box will also be available at the service. Our cousin, Liz, was a beautiful person. We were in awe of her determination, courage, and compassion. Liz’s love for her family and friends knew no limits. She devoted herself to caring for Lisa and Jean. Her optimism and kindness were inspiring. Sending our love from Canada. (Tracey, Laura, and Ben)

  • Eileen McBride says:

My niece Elizabeth was a truly wonderful and selfless person. She lovingly cared for her mother Jean for many years. Elizabeth was also a devoted mother and best friend to Lisa. She did all of this while bravely battling cancer for more than three decades with an unfailingly positive attitude. I will miss her dearly.

    Death leaves a memory
    No one can heal
    Love leaves a memory
    No one can steal
    Forever in our hearts.

Lovely memories of a lovely lady. I met Liz through a love a lacemaking and taught lessons at the shop for a short while. She was a great student, learing quickly and making fast progress. I saw her later, from time to time at various craft events and was always impressed by her vibrancy and positivity. Sincere condolences to her family and friends, but especially Lisa. xxx

  • Kristine Lovelady says:

Liz adopted two pugs when they needed a home and then adopted Isobel (Izzy) in October 2022. She adored my long term disabled cleft palate pug pup Noel. She was hoping to adopt him when sadly she became so very ill. A beautiful lady inside and out my lasting memory of her is sat amongst rescue pugs and Frenchie’s helping and supporting whenever she could, even when she was ill. So very sad that the world has lost such a special lady.
