Elizabeth Abbott (Betty)

In hospital on 14th December 2021, Betty aged 82 years of Clayton-le-Moors and Accrington. The loving and loved mum of Michael and Neil, dear mother-in-law of Jacqueline and Sue, cherished grandma of Leigh, Joanne, Alex and Connor, great-grandma of Bess, Penelope, Halle, Jaycee, Spencer and James, dear sister of Anne, Rodney and the late Trevor and a well respected relative and good friend to many.

Betty was born in Loftus, near Whitby, North Yorkshire, she made the move to Clayton-le-Moors as a young girl with her father and siblings. Betty was the former owner of the wool shop on Whalley Road, Clayton and has also worked as the Stewardess at the Tory Club and Bottom Club and also as a care worker at the Woodlands. She was an avid knitter and loved nothing more than settling in her chair knitting away whist listening to one of her favourite audio books. In her younger years Betty was a keen sportswoman and enjoyed playing netball, swimming and running. She enjoyed holidays with trips to Yorkshire and always looked forward to trips to Blackpool for a long weekend of rest and relaxation.

Betty’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the carers from Guardian for all the love care and support shown to Betty.
