Elisabeth Howard (Liz)

On 17th September 2019 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, Liz aged 70 years of Barrow. The dearly loved wife of George, much loved Mum of Suzanne, Debbie and David, dear mother in law of Paul and Helen, devoted and cherished Grandma of Matthew, Daniel, Lottie, Sam, Frankie, Nia and Lucy, also a dear sister, sister in law and auntie and a treasured friend.

Liz grew up in Whalley and always loved the village. She trained as a children’s nurse at Pendlebury Hospital, Manchester before she had her family and was a wonderful wife, mum and grandma. Whilst her children were young Liz was a childminder and then worked at Abbeydale Care home in Whalley for many years and then worked on the checkout in Booths until her retirement. Liz loved her holidays especially in Corfu – her ‘heaven on earth’ and Barbados – her ‘paradise’. she also enjoyed walking and many happy times were spent on Pendle Hill and in the Yorkshire Dales. Her family was her world but they knew not to phone when Emmerdale was on TV! She adored her home which is cosy and spotless with everything in its place. She and George celebrated nearly 46 years of a lovely marriage. Liz was a truly special lady who really cared about others. She will be remembered for being kind and caring with a beautiful smile and a generous heart.
