Eileen Alice Brierley

Eileen, aged 80, passed away suddenly at The Royal Blackburn Hospital on 12 March 2021.

Beloved wife of the late Alan and much loved mum of Paul and Ian, mother-in-law of Sue and Katherine and grandmother to Josh, Ben and Jessica and a dear friend to many.

Eileen was born in Great Harwood on 22 February 1941 and was the only daughter of Mary and Harry Ratcliffe. After attending St Wulstan’s primary school in Great Harwood and Notre Dame Grammar school in Blackburn, she started her working life at Mullards in Blackburn within the payroll department. Employment followed at XL Crisps, Great Harwood and Asda, Accrington before spending her remaining working years supporting her husband Alan in his stationery business through which they were well known in East Lancashire.

Eileen along with Alan enjoyed many years of holidays and travelling abroad. Most memorable amongst their trips were extended driving holidays to both the West Coast States of North America and France / Spain.

As well as spending time with family and friends Eileen was particularly fond of gardening, and her well manicured garden over the years has been a testament to that.

Eileen’s love, friendship and great sense of humour will be much missed by all.

Family flowers only please. Donations are being received in memory of Eileen for the British Heart Foundation via the donate button below.
