Dorothy Haworth
Peacefully at her home on 29th February 2024, after a brave battle with motor neurone disease, Dorothy aged 77 years of Accrington. The devoted and much loved wife of Rick, loving mum of Gillian and Dean, dear mother-in-law of Andy and Sally, cherished grandma of Jake, Alex, Tyler, Dan, Max and Sam, Aunty of Kathryn and sister-in-law of Elaine, and a respected relative and friend to many.
Dorothy began her working life as a hairdresser before moving in to administration working in the offices at Albert Harrison’s, Platt’s and Hyndburn Borough Council as a housing officer up to her retirement. Away from work, Dorothy loved to travel and always looked forward to getting away to enjoy some well earned rest and relaxation. Dorothy loved her home which she always kept in tip top condition and she loved to spend time in her garden which always bloomed in full colour throughout the seasons. She loved the outdoors and nature and always enjoyed getting together with ’The Girls’ for a leisurely walk and a natter. She was the most doting family lady who truly adored her grandchildren and always looked forward to getting the chance to spend time with them and spoil them with love.
Family flowers only please, donations are being gratefully received in Dorothy’s memory on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice. To make a donation please click the ‘Make A Donation’ button at the bottom of this page or send to the funeral directors.
