Doreen Riley

Peacefully on 15th April, 2022 at home, Doreen passed away aged 83 years of Great Harwood.

Beloved wife of Walter, mother of Gary and grandmother of Andrew & Oliver. Doreen also leaves behind stepdaughters Mandy & Angel  and her step-granddaughters Lauren, Kirsten & Jade.

Doreen, the second daughter of Mary & Gerard, had a natural flair for art and needlework and soon became a tailoress of the highest calibre. Her career spanned sewing fine garments, shoes and bespoke upholstery.

Her main love was her family and her home. Doreen’s hobbies included pottery, painting and even completing a diploma in art & fashion in her spare time.

Doreen loved to dance, regularly dancing to near exhaustion and just for the love of it. In her later years she was also known for performing as her favourite singer, Dame Shirley Bassey.

Doreen was a social butterfly and leaves behind many friends. She will be sadly missed.

Dearest Walter, I feel honoured to have known Doreen and spent time with you both. I so enjoyed my visits to your home, talking about our common passion of art. Doreen was an amazing woman who inspired me to try new things no matter what age. She will be sorely missed. Keeping you in my thoughts. Lots of love, Liz x
