David Scholes

On 19th December 2025, peacefully at Hope House, Clayton-le-Moors, David, aged 95 years, of Great Harwood, passed away.

The dearly loved husband of Jean, much loved dad of Alan and daughter-in-law Marie, a loving grandad to Christopher and Matthew and a cherished great-grandad of Roman, Orla, and Teddy.

David spent his working life in various mills in Church, working as a tackler overseeing the looms. He was a keen fisherman, and he and his son Alan spent many happy hours together sea fishing, beach fishing, and fly fishing. David loved all animals and nature, and when watching television at home it was usually sport or his much loved animal programmes. An avid Blackburn Rovers supporter, David enjoyed attending matches whenever he could. He was also a cricket fan and had watched England play on two occasions at Old Trafford. David liked to keep up to date with current affairs and everything that was happening in the world, reading his daily newspaper from cover to cover while sitting in his favourite chair. He enjoyed a whisky, gin or Drambuie, as well as the occasional glass of red wine. David was a gentle and happy man and will be missed dearly by his loving family.
