David Michael Allsup
On 17th July 2023, David sadly passed away in The Woodlands Care Home, aged 79 years, of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly loved and loving husband of Anne, much loved father of Rachel and son in law Wayne and loving grandfather of Daniel.
A proud Yorkshireman, David moved to Lancashire as a youngster but always remained true to his roots. He studied at St John’s College, York and did his teacher training in Darlington. Beginning his teaching career at Woodnook Primary School, David then moved to Hollins School in Accrington where he taught Science for 32 years, becoming Head of Science. Following early retirement due to ill health, David became a messenger for Haworth & Nuttall Solicitors. In his younger years, he loved motorsport, especially rallying and had also been a co-driver in amateur car rallying. He travelled many miles and stayed up all night as a spectator at the RAC Rallies. He also loved tennis and was a keen photographer of steam trains on the Settle to Carlisle Line. David and Anne enjoyed many holidays together over the years, and times spent with family were always precious. David was a much loved, quiet, unassuming, sensitive and caring, gentle man. Diagnosed with Dementia, he was taken into the loving care of the Woodlands Care Home, where Gina and the wonderful staff showed such compassion and support, not just to David but his family too, for which they are ever grateful.
Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of David are gratefully being received on behalf of Alzheimer’s Research & Derian House Children’s Hospice. To make a donation, please click on the blue donate button below.

I feel privileged to have known David. David was intelligent, caring, genuine and he always had a smile for everyone. David loved Anne and his family deeply. When he talked about Anne , Rachel and his family it was with pride. David helped to educate many young adults which helped them to develop many life skills and educated them about the world that David was so keen to explore. David I will never forget you, your kindness, understanding and compassion was a quality not many people have and you had it all. Fond memories will live on in many people who were privileged to know you. Rest in peace David. God less you xx

I feel very privileged to have taught alongside David, (and helped with his fun packed school residentials). Mick and I have also enjoyed the friendship of David and Anne over many years. They were without doubt made for each other. We shared many happy times together with them and their friends, usually involving good food and plenty of wine. I miss your unique humour Dave! Thank you for the good times. Rest easy David. A true gentleman. Love Mick and Steph.xx
