David Lord

On 7th February 2021, peacefully in hospital, David aged 84 years of Rishton. The dearly loved husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty), loving partner of Judy, much loved dad of Stuart and Stephen, dear father in law of Terrina and Lindsay, also a loving grandad and great grandad and great friend to many.

David had always been a huge football fan and a talented player, He played for Great Harwood Football Club and Accrington Stanley in the early 60’s and continued to play for various local teams right up to his 50’s.  Following his National Service, David then worked as a pork butcher before becoming a product manager for a canning factory in great Harwood. Together David and Betty created a lovely home for the boys growing up and David ensured the boys enjoyed lots of football and cricket. David loved a good John Wayne Western and laughed along to re-runs of Only Fools and Horses. After losing Betty, David was fortunate to meet Judy and, bringing their families together, many happy times were had. David enjoyed being in company, chatting about sport and enjoying a pint of mild.
