Dave Slinger

Peacefully on 29th November 2025, at The Manor House, Chatburn, Dave, aged 75 years, of Great Harwood and formerly of Clitheroe. The devoted and much-loved partner of the late Gillian Young, a dearly loved step-father to Carlton and Victoria, cherished grandad of Jessica, and a much-loved brother of Janet, Maureen and Kathleen.

Lovingly known as Postman Pat, Dave was the familiar rural postman throughout the Ribble Valley. He cherished his work and was a trusted and well loved face within the community. A loyal Blackburn Rovers supporter and proud season ticket holder, he always looked forward to cheering on his team. Music was another of Dave’s passions, especially folk, and in his younger years he ran a folk club in Clitheroe, creating a welcoming haven where fellow enthusiasts could gather to enjoy and share all things folk.

Dave loved the outdoors and gardening, and he could often be found exploring the countryside with his beloved companion, Jennie the dog. Holidays were a treasured part of his life, and together with Gillian he travelled the UK in their much-loved motorhome, creating memories wherever they went.
