Daniel Fernand Adam Stauder

Daniel, passed away peacefully at the Royal Blackburn Hospital with family by his side, aged 75 years.

Dearly loved husband to Janet, devoted dad to Fleur and the late Adam, good friend to Lee, a dear brother and brother- in-law to Thérèse and Gérard, uncle to Céline and Gisèle, much loved son-in law to Margaret and the late Harry also a dear relative and friend to many.

Dan was born to Suzanne and Léon in France and grew up in a small village called Tupigny. Whilst at University at the age of 23 Dan for the second year running hitch hiked his way around Great Britain and arrived at St Ives where he met his future wife Janet. Dan strolled across the room and lit Janet’s cigarette, started a conversation and as they say the rest is history. Dan took various jobs to support his family and from 1980 until retirement he worked at Caligen Foam. Dan loved holidays especially where the mountains meet the sea and thought that the British coastline was second to none. Dan loved gardening, home improvements and had a real passion for cooking. He will be remembered for being a thoughtful, selfless, quiet and gentle man with a great sense of humour who enjoyed good food, wine, company and the occasional cigar.

Since 2005 Dan’s health started to decline but he remained positive, strong and determined to the end.

Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Dan are being gratefully received on behalf of Haematology Transplant Unit at The Christie Hospital.

The Lewis Family We never met Janet and Dan often but having known Fleur and Lee for a very long time we got to know her parents through them. We heard about a loving close knit family who have made memories together which will be cherished forever.

Andrew Harrison To the Stauder family, I have many fond memories of Dan but the one that immediately comes to mind is possibly the last time we saw each other. Dan eagerly tucking into a boiled egg served the traditional way in an egg cup! I was dropping off a Christmas card around lunchtime and felt slightly embarrassed but Dan being Dan offered me a drink, bite to eat if I fancied it and made me feel at home! That was the kind natured soul that he was. Deepest condolences on your loss. Take solace in all those happy memories that will live on forever x

We were fortunate to meet Dan and Janet on holiday in the Forest of Dean in 2010 and were immediately drawn to a very likeable and clearly loving couple. Since then we have stayed in occasional touch and were always amazed how resilient Dan was in coping with his medical issues, helped.of course, by the support of a loving wife and family. We are only distant friends but we genuinely were pleased to have known such a pleasant and charming man as Dan. May he rest in peace and we undertake to remember him whenever we return to the Forest of Dean or St. Ives. Our kindest thoughts to all his family.
