Colin James Fletcher

Peacefully passed away at East Lancashire Hospice on Friday 18th November, 2022. Colin aged 61 years of Great Harwood. The devoted and loved partner of Carole, adored and loving dad of Kelly, Katie and Emma, step dad of Sammy and Nikita, father-in-law of Paul and David, cherished grandad of Rosie, Amelia and Harry. Colin was also a dear friend of Graham and Lynn as well as to many others.

Avid dancer Colin was a member of the Northern Soul music and dance movement. He was the most talented dancer and loved nothing more than gathering with his friends for a weekend of dancing, chatting and of course a pint or two of his favourite Guinness. It was through his love of the dance floor that he met the love of his life Carole with whom he shared the most special years of his life. Colin spent his working life as a self employed joiner following the completion of his apprenticeship. He loved his work and could turn his hand to any task and he was always on hand to help out any of his friends. At home, Colin loved to tinker and would happily spend hours trying to fix things. He loved technology and would watch YouTube videos to learn the working of any device. He also enjoyed motorbikes. He was a great character, Colin was happy in his own company and loved to escape the hustle of daily life and go off to enjoy a spot of fishing. He was the most doting dad to his girls and loved nothing more than spending time making special memories with them and he was a proud grandad to his  grandchildren. Colin had a twinkle in his eye and a smile that would light up the room when he entered and if you was ever feeling a little down, Colin would be the one to pick you back up with his amazing sense of humour and ever giving personality.

He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

I remember the times we used to go to Mercer Hall disco on a Friday night, where you could be found in the middle of the dancefloor dancing your heart away surrounded by envious onlookers. I also remember seeing your van around – helping hands, I think it was called, and also the time you had ‘Lucky Nudges’ in Great Hardwood with Uncle Jim. Rest in peace Colin you have gone way too early but will always be remembered.
