Charlie's funeral service will be held at All Saints Church, Clayton-le-Moors followed by Interment at Dill Hall Cemetery.

Charles John Purvin ‘Charlie’

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 20th December 2022, Charlie aged 95 years of Clayton-le-Moors and born in Melton Mowbray. The devoted husband of the late Edna, loving dad of Hilary, Jean and Andrew, dear father-in-law of Ian, Richard and Elizabeth, a cherished grandad and great-grandad and also a dear relative and friend to many.

Following his school years Charlie was called to complete his National Service serving with the British Army as a driver, following his Service Charlie made the move to Clayton-le-Moors where he met Edna and made his home for the rest of his life. He found work with Accrington Corporation working as a driver and conductor and later went on to become a mechanic leading up to his retirement, Charlie was a true grafter and he worked hard to provide for his family and was always a highly respected member of his working team. He was the most doting family man and loved nothing more than catching up with his nearest and dearest. He loved holidays and in younger years these were spent travelling around the UK and in later years he enjoyed spending time abroad with his beloved wife Edna and other family members. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows working his way through the ranks to become Provincial Grand Master and was also President of the Royal British Legion Clayton-le-Moors branch.
