Carmelo Cavaleri

In St Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, Canada, Carmelo passed away on the morning of Thursday, 7th of October 2021, on his 89th birthday. He leaves two loving sons, Jimmy and John and grandchildren, his loving brother Giuseppe (Peppe) and loving sister Maria.

Born in Racalmuto, Sicily, Carmelo came to England in 1955 to work on a four year contract at Brockhall Hospital. He had a break for a few years from the hospital and then returned  to  work there on nights as a nursing assistant until 1981. Carmelo then emigrated to Canada where he worked at St Joseph’s hospital in Hamilton, Ontario as an Orderly, until his retirement. Carmelo loved his work and was very caring and kind. He was a quiet, gentle person. Carmelo loved Canada and enjoyed the visits from his brother Peppe, when he would proudly show him the sights. In his spare time and during his retirement, Carmelo loved to repair radios and bicycles, cook different pasta dishes and also enjoyed visiting the Jackson Square Market.
