Memorial Book

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 10th March 2025, Brian aged 89 years of Clayton-le-Moors and formerly of Blackburn. The devoted and much loved husband of 68 years to Sheila, loving and loved dad of Janet, Paul and Julie, dear father-in-law of Tim, Mabel and David, cherished and adored grandad of Westley, Charlotte, James and Brenton, loved great-grandad of Sebastian, Louie, Oscar, Gabriel, Jacob and Isaac, dear brother of the late Joan and the late Irene and a loved and respected uncle, relative and friends to many. Brian’s world revolved around his family, and nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by those he loved. He cherished the tradition of gathering everyone together each year for a special weekend at The Dalmeny in St Annes, a time filled with fun, laughter, and the creation of treasured memories. A man with a deep appreciation for life’s adventures, Brian had the joy of traveling the world, exploring South Africa, America, and Canada, as well as many wonderful destinations across Europe. A hardworking and dedicated man, Brian spent his career as a skilled bricklayer in the construction industry, taking immense pride in his craft. Even in later years, he loved pointing out the buildings he had worked on, his eyes lighting up with great pride. He later went on to work for Blackburn Corporation in the maintenance department, where his strong work ethic and skill were valued until his well-earned retirement. At home, Brian’s passion was his garden, a place of beauty and peace that he tended with care and meticulous planning, ensuring it flourished in every season. He also had a love of football and always looked forward to a trip to Ewood to support his team, Blackburn Rovers. Brian also had a deep love for good food, and while he enjoyed dining out with family and friends, nothing compared to the home-cooked meals made with love by his wonderful wife, Sheila. Their home was always filled with warmth, love, and the comforting aroma of her delicious cooking—a place where family gathered, stories were shared, and love was at the heart of it all. Brian’s life was one of love, devotion, and joy. He gave so much of himself to those he loved, and in return, he was deeply cherished. His kindness, his laughter, and the warmth of his presence will be forever missed, but his love will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him. Family flowers only, please but donations are being gratefully received in Brian’s memory, on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.
