Brian Dowds

On 13th December 2018 peacefully in hospital, Brian of Grindleton. Much loved husband of Sally, much loved dad of Darren, Neil and Siân, much loved father-in-law of Claire and Stephen and cherished grandad of Simon, Benjamin, Orla and Cara.

Brian was born in Belfast where he grew up with his mum, brother and grandparents all under the same roof.  Brian had a great work ethic and started working for the local farmer at the age of 9 to help support his family.  His first real job was in the Irish Linen Industry and he went to Belfast Technical College one night per week to get his degree in Textile Chemistry.  Not only did Brian embark upon a successful career which involved travelling throughout Europe, he also met Sally, his wife to be, and they eventually moved to Grindleton with their three children, Darren, Neil and Siân.  Brian was a formidable business man but loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, especially sharing with them his love of fishing, music and technology.

Brian will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
