Brian Alan Mellor – ‘Blue’ ‘Kingy’

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at East Lancashire Hospice on 23rd January 2024 following a battle of momentous proportions Blue aged 68 years of Oswaldtwistle. The devoted and much loved husband and soulmate of Sharon, loving dad of Amanda, Keeley, BA, Alexandra, Connor and Taylor, cherished grandad of Robert, Star, Destiny, Toni, Sophie, Harmony, Kobe, Hope, Love and Heaven and Ophelia, great grandad of Frankie and River-Bleu and  dear son of the late Annie and Arthur, loved brother of Raymond and Steven and the late Patricia and also a respected relative and good friend to many.

Master craftsman and perfectionist, Blue was a well known and loved local character through his work as a Painter and Decorator running his business BA Mellor Painting and Decorating Contractors. He was the former landlord of The Brewers Arms, Oswaldtwistle and was also known in the motor trade industry through his former work as a paint spryer and car dealer. Blue was the most doting family man and loved nothing more than spending time with those he loved and cherished and always looked forward to being fussed by his family. Together with his soulmate Sharon, Blue loved to set to work renovating their family home to exacting standards. Blue was a true gentleman who will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Blue was a colourful character who lived a colourful life, Blue asked for no black, please wear something colourful (preferably Blue) at his service to reflect this.

No flowers by Blue’s request. Donations are being gratefully received in his memory on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice as per Blue’s wishes. To make a donation please click the ‘Make A Donation’ at the bottom of this page or send to the funeral directors.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Brian as he came to Square Meadow to watch some games at the Glenside Junior Football Club, the club that his son BA founded in 2018. He always had a smile on his face and a bag of toffees in hand along with a smile on his face. I can bet you’re watching down on the Glenside family games probably from a step ladder in the sky. All the love from the GLENSIDE FAMILY💙🖤
