Brenda McNamara

On 2nd May 2023 peacefully in hospital surrounded by her loving family, Brenda, Aged 82 years of Cemetery House, Dill Hall Lane, Church. The dearly loved and loving wife of Maurice, much loved mum of Andrew and Lorraine, very dear mother in law of Sharon and Marcus, devoted grandma of Jacob, Lewis, Jack and Alex, loving sister of Margaret, Vera, Freda, Susan and Alan. Also a loving sister in law and auntie. Much loved by all her family and friends.

Brenda began her working life in the wages department at English Electric and then moved to Rists Wires. She then took a position at Homebase in Accrington, starting in the office and then moving onto the shop floor where Brenda was in her element meeting the customers and helping them with their purchases. Maurice also worked with Brenda part time and between them they  were well known and liked by all. Brenda threw her self wholeheartedly into all aspects of her work and thoroughly enjoyed the staff Christmas parties – Christmas was always a special time of year for Brenda and she was often the life and soul of the party. She had a natural connection with people and was always smiling, spreading her happiness over everyone. Brenda had also been an Akela for 1st Baxenden Cub Scouts. She loved all animals, particularly cats and dogs and enjoyed reading a good romance novel. Brenda and Maurice adored their family home in Dill Hall Cemetery and together spent many happy hours making their garden a beautiful array of colour for all to enjoy throughout the summer months. In her last months, Brenda received special care from Hope House Care Home and the Royal Blackburn Hospital. Brenda leaves a wonderful legacy of love and happiness in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
