Peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on 11th February 2024, Bert aged 87 years of Great Harwood. The devoted and much loved husband of Janet, loving dad of Stephen and his partner Sue, loved grandad of Abigail and her husband Patrick and Nicholas and his partner Hannah, cherished great-grandad of Adeline and Ezra, dear brother of David and also a respected relative and good friend to many.
Following his school years, Bert began his working life as a junior clerk working in a spinning mill before moving to Prestige Ewbank at Accrington woking his way up through the ranks to manager of the shipping department, following its closure Bert moved to the Burnley site. He then joined the family business running a Textile Manufacturer Company becoming a well known and loved local business man. Bert took great pride in his appearance and where ever he was going he would always be immaculately turned out with his tie tied in a perfect double Windsor knot. He was a football fanatic and in his younger years Bert played for Accrington Town Team, Accrington Corinthians and Great Harwood, he supported Manchester City and Accrington Stanley where he was awarded life time membership for his support to the club. Bert loved holidays and over the years he has travelled the globe across land and sea with his wife and best friend Janet and also enjoyed many happy times at his holiday homes in Tenerife and Wales.

I do sorry to hear of the passing of Bert. I remember him fondly from my jancraft days. Always with a smile on his face. I was only thinking of him the other day when I bought a scrunchie for my hair and it brought back the good days at jancraft. Sending my condolences to his cherished wife Janet and his loving son Stephen.
