Berenice Irene Davey
On 6th June 2019 peacefully in hospital surrounded by her loving family, Berenice aged 87 years of Accrington. Dearly loved wife of the late Denis, much loved mum of Janet, John and Vivienne, also a loved mother-in-law and loving grandma and great-grandma, loving sister of Valerie and a dear friend to many.
Berenice was a State Registered Nurse and Ward Sister for all of her working life at Blackburn Royal Infirmary, which she was incredibly proud of.
She passionately supported local theatre groups and was a member of various amateur dramatics societies such as Calderstones, Bel Canto, Blackburn Amateurs and Accrington Theatre group. She most notably played the part of the Dame in pantomime for Blackburn Hospital Players for many years. In later years, she sang and performed with the ‘Victorians’ who entertained many people in local care homes and sheltered accommodation.
Although her mobility had become more limited, her mind certainly had not and she was keen to live her life to the full. She particularly loved to travel and managed to still go on holiday abroad and more recently in the UK.
Most importantly, she always put her family first and was the true matriarch of our family. She was also a good friend to many. Words cannot express how much she will be missed but she will be forever in our hearts.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in memory of Berenice to PCC Christ Church and Cancer Research UK.
