Barbara Kirkham

At her home on 25th March 2023, Barbara aged 87 years of Great Harwood. The devoted wife of Geoffrey, loving mum of Paul and Andrew, dear mother-in-law of Christine, cherished grandma of Sonny and Archie and dear sister of Judith.

Born and raised in Great Harwood, Barbara developed a passion for horse riding from a young age and was a well known face in the equestrian world, she always looked forward to gathering with her friends for a ride out in the open countryside. Her working life began at Nat West working in the Oswaldtwistle branch before giving up work to become full time mother and housewife. In later years Barbara returned to work, working alongside her husband in the family business Fred Kirkham Coaches and with her keen eye for detail Barbara kept the office running like clockwork. Together with her beloved Geoffrey, Barbara enjoyed many wonderful holidays enjoying many cruises and trips to their villa in Spain where she would enjoy relaxing in the warm sunshine whilst topping up her year round suntan. At home she was the most keen gardener and always ensured her garden was immaculate ensuring it bloomed in full colour throughout the seasons. Barbara also enjoyed relaxing at home completing her latest crossword puzzles. She was a doting family lady who loved nothing more than spending time with her boys and grandsons.
