Barbara's Funeral Service will be held at St Peter & St Paul's Parish Church Rishton followed by Committal at Accrington Crematorium.

Barbara Jean Clarke

Peacefully at Springhill Care Home on 22nd August 2022, Barbara aged 85 years of Rishton. The devoted wife of the late Peter, adored and loving mum of Joanne and Stephen, dear mother-in-law of John and Jane, cherished grandma of Rebecca, Charlotte, Imogen and Harry and a dear sister to Victor.

Barbara was a devoted family lady who always looked forward to spending time with those closest to her, she was a loyal and loved friend to many and a life long active member of Rishton Parish Church and choir member. Barbara was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and loved nothing more than stepping on to the stage to entertain. Her working life began at a printers in Rishton before moving to the Post Office and later British Telecom working as a Telephonist, Barbara made many good friends through her work and later along with her husband Peter joined the Telephonist exchange group, this saw Barbara host guests from France and Germany and they also enjoyed many trips in exchange. Family holidays were always enjoyed with camping trips when her children were younger and then in later years Barbara enjoyed many wonderful trips abroad including many amazing cruise holidays.

Barbara will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

I am so sorry to read this. I only lived in Rishton for eight years,, moving back to Somerset in 2019. I remember Barbara introducing herself to me when I first came to St. Peter & St. Paul’s Church. She made me feel welcome. She was a lovely lady and she has been one of the people from Rishton that I remember with affection. Please accept my condolences. I will remember you in my prayers.
