Arthur Clayton ‘Art’

Peacefully at his home on 10th January 2023, Arthur aged 87 years of Accrington. The devoted husband of the late Sandra, much loved dad of Julie and Graham, dear father-in-law of Garry and Gina, he also leaves Julie’s step children Emma and Harry and Gina’s daughter Britney and Art was also a dear relative and friend to many.

Following his school years Arthur completed his national service with the Merchant Navy. He then worked as a draftsman at Lucas and the coal board before moving to Crown Wall Coverings working as a plant engineer, this was a job he loved and he made many good friends. Art finally took his retirement from his position as a mechanical service engineer at Avery Labels. No matter where his place of work or his position, Art always kept his feet firmly on the ground and was a well respected colleague. He was naturally clever and talented and loved a challenge, always pushing himself to be his best. He was an avid motor cross fan and member and press secretary of Vale of Rossendale Motor Cross Club and each week the members would eagerly await his latest articles. He was patient and kind and always on hand to help out his family whom he adored. Art always looked forward to his holidays for some well earned rest and relaxation and his favourite destination was Almeria.
