Annie Jones

Mrs Annie Jones nee Ashworth of Clayton le Moors died suddenly at home on Thursday 21st January 2021, aged 83 years. She was the much loved wife of Harold for 61 years, mum of Derek and Jennifer, mother-in-law to Tracy and Jay, grandma to Louise, Sarah, Alistair and Hannah, great-grandma to Isabelle, Matilda, Alice and Emily and sister of the late Derek and late Frank.
Born in Lumb, she began work at Elgin’s Sewing Manufacturer in Burnley, where she became a qualified designer and pattern maker. After taking time out to have a family she then worked as a pastry chef and was then employed by Norweb where she became the assistant manager at the Rawtenstall branch. Before her retirement, along with her husband, Annie owned and ran a post office/newsagent business.
Annie was a very active  member of the WI for over 60 years and she served as president of her local branch on numerous occasions during that time. She was also a long serving committee member of the Friends of Rossendale Hospital where she was always very much involved in their fundraising activities. Her main hobby was ‘crafting’ and dressmaking which she was very talented at, her baking was also legendary in the family. She had a sense of adventure and loved to travel, enjoying lots of caravan trips and holidays around the world. Most of all she adored spending time with her grandchildren and little great granddaughters.
She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family and friends.
Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Annie will be gratefully received for the Salvation Army via the donate button below.
