Ann Smith

Peacefully on 21st October 2023 with her family at her side at Henley House, Ann aged 103 years formerly of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted wife of the late Jimmy, loved mum of Michael, cherished grandma of Amanda and David and his wife Serena, great-grandma of Mitchel and  a dearly loved relative and friend to many.

Ann was born and raised in Clayton-le-Moors where she spent the whole of her life and was a well known face in the local community. She spent her younger years working in the local laundry before moving to Alma Press where she spent many happy years and made many friends over the years. Ann was a loving family lady who always kept the household running like clockwork and she could often be found in the kitchen creating one of her delicious recipes and her date and walnut cake and plate meat pie where a firm favourites within the family. Ann always looked forward to her holidays to the Isle of Man with Jimmy and later following loosing her beloved Jimmy she enjoyed many trips to Ireland with her sister Cath Thom.

Following a decline in her health in 2019, Ann was taken in to the loving care of Henley House where she was lovingly cared for by the amazing staff and Ann was able to life out her final days feeling safe and content.
