Memorial Book

Andrew aged 59 years, who passed away suddenly in the comfort of his own home on 21st March 2025. Andrew was the adored son of David and the late Kathleen, a cherished father to Oliver and Charles, and a much-loved brother to Gillian and Cathrine, loved uncle and great uncle to all his niece’s and nephews, he also leaves Emma, his former wife and mum to their two boys.

Andrew’s career journey began after he left school, when he entered the engineering world as an ambitious young apprentice. He qualified and worked in his chosen field for 8 years before an exciting new opportunity took him across the Atlantic to America. There, Andrew became an instructor for the California Highway Patrol’s motorcycle police officers—a role that he was truly passionate about and thrived in.

Andrew inherited his father’s love for the outdoors, and from an early age, he was a true athlete. He achieved numerous feats, including completing the famous ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ in England and cycling from Land’s End to John o’Groats, covering an extraordinary 1,189 miles. His adventurous spirit didn’t stop there—Andrew cycled from Wilpshire in Lancashire to Athens, Greece, over a remarkable 4-month journey. One of his greatest achievements, however, was scaling Mount Huxley, a towering 13,092-foot peak in the Sierra Nevada, with his father David in just five days.

Following his time in America, Andrew returned to England with his parents. During this period, he worked for his weekends and continued to live life to the fullest. Andrew’s sisters fondly recall him as Blackburn’s answer to ‘Wham’s’ Andrew Ridgeley. His love for the 80s music scene was evident, as he would be the first on the dance floor every Friday and Saturday night. It was during these years that Andrew met Emma, and they later married and had two wonderful boys together.

Andrew was dedicated to spending quality time with his sons. He shared his love for the outdoors with his eldest, Oliver, taking him on adventures to the golf driving range, caving, rock climbing, and kayaking at Clitheroe Canoe Club. For his youngest son, Charles, who was too young to join in the physical activities, Andrew made sure to create cherished moments filled with meaningful conversations, spending hours together talking about life. These are memories that Oliver and Charles will carry with them forever.

Andrew will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
