Albert Joseph Sheridan ‘Bert’

Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on 27th October, 2022 Bert, aged 100 years of Rishton. The devoted husband of the late Eda, adored and loving dad of Elaine and Linda, dear father-in-law of the late John, cherished grandad of Katie, Harriet and her husband Ryan and great-grandad to his little ray of sunshine, Alice.

Born in Great Harwood, Bert moved to Rishton following his marriage at Rishton Parish Church to the love of his life, Eda in 1946. The couple shared a wonderful long and happy marriage, raising their two daughters with strong and loving family values. Bert was a grafter and he began his working life aged 13 years as farm labourer. He later worked at Nori before going on to work at Whitebirk and Huncoat power stations where he remained until his retirement. Bert was a home bird and loved nothing more than spending time in his garden keeping it in immaculate order. He loved the simple things in life and was at his happiest when surrounded by his family, pipe in hand enjoying a smoke. He was the most proud grandad and, in his later years, he was the doting great-grandad to Alice, who each day, brought a smile to Bert’s face.
