Alan Green

Peacefully at hospital on 21st December 2023, aged 84. Alan was the beloved husband of Margaret, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Michael and the late Shaun. Emlyn, their adored grandchild, brought immeasurable joy into Alan’s later years.

Alan’s bond with his family was unwavering. As the brother of Trevor and brother-in-law to Linda, he fostered connections that ran deep. Nephews Ben, Mark, and Adam were not just family but also dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A dedicated chartered engineer, Alan dedicated his entire working life to BNFL, retiring in the 90s. His commitment and expertise left a lasting impact on the industry. His passion for engineering was matched only by his enthusiasm for DIY projects and decorating, especially during his frequent trips to their villa in Spain. Although Margaret often remained behind due to work commitments, Alan found solace and purpose in these solo endeavors, always claiming to have an abundance of tasks to accomplish.

The couple also enjoyed winters in Alabama, where they spent precious moments with their son Michael. Proud of Michael’s achievements as a member of the Blackburn Harriers and his success in track and field competitions, Alan even took up running himself to share in his son’s passions. The friendly competition between father and son became a source of laughter and camaraderie.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and athletic pursuits, Alan had a great sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. His love for playing squash, football, cycling, and running reflected his vibrant spirit and zest for life. He loved dancing with his wife Margaret, they had such fun at the local clubs and made lots of memories and lots of friends.

Alan will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the love he showered upon his family, the joy he found in simple pleasures, and the laughter he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him family and friend. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love that he so generously gave throughout his remarkable life.
