Audrey Robinson

On 30th October, 2022 peacefully in hospital, Audrey, aged 89 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly loved wife of the late Richard, loving mum of the late Peter, also a much loved cousin of John and Janet and dear friend of Donald and Jean.

Audrey worked as a cashier in a bank following her school years and became a housewife when she married Richard. Audrey was the most wonderful homemaker and was extremely proud of her home. She was talented at crafts and enjoyed her evenings spent with friends around the kitchen table making their craft items. She was also an excellent baker – her cherry topped cup cakes were perfection. Audrey liked to be involved in the community and had been a member of the WI. Together Audrey and Richard enjoyed a lovely life and both shared a passion for cruising, having taken a total of nineteen cruises to most parts of the world. Audrey was very sociable and enjoyed being in company and loved nothing more than dressing in her finery and was always so beautifully presented. A highlight each year for Audrey, was her annual visit to Thursford Christmas Spectacular – something she absolutely loved. Audrey was a generous, genuine and kind lady. Always direct, you knew where you stood. Strong and reliable, she was the best kind of friend to have. Now re-united with her beloved husband Richard and son Peter.

Kim, Beverley & Oscar

I have lovely memories of Auntie Audrey, one of the kindest and most gentle people I have ever met. Myself and my parents Jean and Colin Wilmington shared special times with her on cruises and back in Accrington. She never forget our birthdays and Iscsr and I received some lovely handmade cards from her. She spent hours showing me how to paint plates and I’ll never forget her playing the piano and singing Eidelweiss. She was very, very special and we were all so lucky to have known her.xxx

Accrington & District WI

Audrey was a founder member of our WI. and we will all miss our lovely lady terribly, she always had a kind word and a wonderful smile for everyone. She joined in with outings. Ladies who lunch. , and of course Clitheroe show. as she loved craft. especially her beautiful xstitch.She attended the 10th anniversay on the 7th Nov. and enjoyed the evening.. She will be remembered with heartfelt warmth by all of us. She was one in a million. may she rest in peace..

Audrey. Such a lovely lady. Never said a bad word about anyone. You will be very much missed by all your friends. You had a kind heart. and everyone loved you. We had a WI meeting last night. and we were so sad to see your empty chair.. At the craft class it won’t be the same without our lady there. You cheered us with your everlasting smile. Don’t think there will be another Audrey. Rest in peace with your Richard and Peter. Knowing that you were much loved.

Auntie Audrey, from the moment you met Uncle Dick you became a much loved part of our family. When my Mum and Dad died within a year of each other, you were there for me. On my return from Spain you were my rock. We shared so many happy times, not just in Lancashire but Southampton and Spain too. I will miss our regular chats, you will always be forever in my heart. Now you are reunited with Uncle Dick and Peter, in God’s loving care.Will love and miss you always, Jean xx

To my beautiful friend Audrey. I want to say a huge thank you for the short but wonderful time we spent together. The short time just doesn’t seem fair, but my goodness we made good use of it. I’ll never forget the evening I met you at WI. It was our birthday month of March and they were giving out our birthday cards, we both got one. You asked me when mine was and you said when yours was… we were the day after each other but 50 years apart. From that day on we were best friends. Not a Christmas went by when we didn’t go shopping for your Christmas jumper and an advent calendar, you even took a fancy to an elf on the shelf one year, you called him Peter. Every birthday we went for an afternoon tea and we always had a Colin the Caterpillar cake. One of my favourite memories was one night in lockdown. You said, “Helen I’ve lived here 50 odd years and I’ve never been on the swings in the park…” Next thing I knew your shoes were on and we were off! We had a competition who could go the highest, then we spent hours just talking and you telling me about your wonderful life and adventures. One of the last things I said to you was…. You know I love you don’t you, and you said, course I do. Now you are reunited with your wonderful Richard and Peter. I will love you always. Helen
