Bernard Vincent Porter

Suddenly but peacefully in hospital on 25th August, 2022 surrounded by his loving family, Bernard aged 77 years of Accrington and formerly of Hapton. The devoted and loved husband of Linda, adored and loving dad of Samantha, Victoria and Dominic, dear father-in-law of Chris, Lee and Caron and a cherished grandad of Anysia and Jacob.

Bernard began his working life as a farm hand following his school years before moving to Platt’s and Kirkstall Gears working in engineering. In later years he worked as a sales rep for Vidor Batteries and Dobson Sweets. With his outgoing and chatty personality, Bernard was a natural in the world of sales and he had the most amazing memory and never forgot a customer. Bernard ran several successful businesses one of which Poplar Street Grocers Shop in Haslingden, becoming well known in the community. Bernard was gifted with an amazing singing voice and loved to sing away to himself whilst pottering around his home. Bernard took great pride in his appearance and was well respected by all who knew him. Most of all Bernard was the most doting family man who would do anything for his family and becoming a grandad was truly the icing on the cake for Bernard.
