Obituary Notice

On 22nd October 2026, Enid, aged 83 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, following a short but bravely fought battle.Beloved wife of the late Tom, and a devoted Mum, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Enid will be remembered with great love and affection by all who knew her.

Born into a farming family in the Langho area, Enid was incredibly proud of her roots. She dedicated over 30 years of service to Refuge Assurance Company, where she was a highly respected office manager. During her time there, she formed many lifelong friendships, which she continued to cherish and maintain long after her retirement.

Enid and Tom were fortunate to enjoy over 30 years of retirement together, making wonderful memories through holidays abroad, cruising and spending time walking side by side. Enid loved baking and was well known for her delicious lemon sponge, chocolate cake and homemade scones, which were enjoyed by family and friends alike. She also loved watching sport on television, particularly tennis and football, and had a special place in her heart for her beloved Blackburn Rovers.

Enid devoted her heart and soul to her family, her local church, All Saints, and the wider community of Clayton-le-Moors. As an active member of the church choir, she loved to sing, and her Christian faith was an important part of her life.

Enid leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith and cherished memories. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Donations in memory of Enid are being gratefully received on behalf of North West Air Ambulance and All Saints Church, Clayton-Le-Moors

Remembering Enid as a kind, warm-hearted lady who, alongside Tom, her husband, made my journey to school in the mornings a lot of fun! We also enjoyed a holiday in Keswick together and I was able to sample her amazing baked goods. I know Enid will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to meet her, and I send my love and heartfelt condolences to Ann and her family.
