Obituary Notice

On 21st October 2026, peacefully in East Lancashire Hospice, Joyce, aged 77 years of Langho. The dearly loved and loving wife of the late Roger, much loved mum of Kirsty and Victoria, dear mother-in-law of Brian and Russell, and cherished nana of William, Harry, Eleanor, Honor and Evangeline.

Joyce began her working life as a solicitor’s clerk, where part of her role involved taking court transcripts. She later became school secretary and office manager at St Mary’s School in Langho, a role she truly loved. Super-efficient, wonderfully organised and never happier than when surrounded by paperwork, Joyce thrived on being busy and being with people. Her warm and caring nature made her both loved and respected by pupils and colleagues alike, and she formed many wonderful friendships through her work.

Outside of work, Joyce loved knitting and sewing and was fascinated by genealogy and ancestry. She also qualified as a natural therapist.

Over the years, she and Roger shared many happy touring caravan holidays with the children and later on their own. Joyce was also known in the family as a wonderful cook, and her corned beef hash was legendary.

Above all, Joyce was a devoted family woman. She loved her family deeply and took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth and the quiet way she made people feel cared for.

Donations if desired in memory of Joyce are gratefully being received on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice.

My thoughts and prayers for the family. May your beautiful memories bring you joy. Get together often and remember the good times. Your family is in a lot of our family trees, so the family will live on long after we're all gone. Blessings!

Victoria

Mum, you are amazing. You always made time for us, our childhood home was warm and safe, as were your hugs. I have lots of happy memories , it’s been so hard for you since Dad passed, and I know you are back together as you have been since you were childhood sweethearts. Our lives will never be the same again 💔 Love you Victoria, Russ and girls x
