Memorial Book

Peacefully in her sleep at East Lancashire Hospice, surrounded by her loving family, on 15th April 2026, Karen, aged 53 years, of Great Harwood and Langho. The much loved and adored daughter of Brenda and Gordon, a loving sister to Owen and Kelvin, and a cherished niece, cousin, relative and friend.

A true larger-than-life character, Karen was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Though small in stature, she had the biggest heart and more than enough love for everyone. Her smile captured the hearts of all she met. Karen was funny, kind and generous, and she thrived in the company of others. She had a wonderful ability to strike up conversation with anyone, often beginning with her familiar “excuse me…” Music played a huge part in Karen’s life. She loved pop music, with ABBA, Tina Turner and Boy George among her all-time favourites. She was happiest listening to her favourite tracks, usually with the volume turned all the way up. She also enjoyed watching television, especially classic episodes of Coronation Street and Fawlty Towers, which she could watch time and again, knowing every word by heart. Karen always looked forward to days out, particularly trips to local cafes for a brew and a slice of cake. Loom Loft was one of her favourite places to visit. Though small, Karen was incredibly strong and determined. Throughout her life she faced more challenges and setbacks than most, yet she always gave her very best and faced everything with courage and resilience.

Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and she will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the unmistakable twinkle in her eye.

Family flowers only, please. Donations are being received in her memory in aid of Kidney Research and East Lancashire Hospice.

My dear friend Karen. I will always remember all the fun and laughter we shared during your school days. There was a lot of foot stamping and head tossing if lessons involved something not to your liking, but you were a loving and loveable little girl. School holidays and trips, sports days and concerts hold special memories. You were a character and a pleasure then and you never changed. Thank you for the memories and God Bless you on the next part of your journey. Much love Julie xx
