Peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends on 29th March 2026, Charlie aged 50 years of Padiham, Fortified by the Rites of Holy Mother Church. The devoted husband and soulmate of Andrea, loving and loved dad of Luca and nico, adored son of Teresa, loved brother of Damiano and Cettina, a dear son-in-law, relative and loyal friend to many.
Proud restaurateur and head chef at ‘Vetrano’s’, Charlie was passionate about food and took great pride in serving his culinary delights, he was the proud winner of many awards for his cooking talents and he could often be found coming out of the kitchen to speak to his loyal customers, many of whom were good friends. If his customers were happy so was Charlie and whatever he was doing, he would always give it 110% with his Sicilian flair. Born and raised in Palermo, Sicily, Charlie always remained proud of his roots, he made the move to England in April 1999 setting out on a new adventure with a desire to share the secret cuisine of his home town with others, it was here that he met the love of his life Andrea who he married, sealing their love for each other with huge family Sicilian wedding at Palermo Cathedral, creating an truly inseparable bond becoming true soulmates. He was the most proud family man and loved to surrounded by those he loved and cherished and his two boys were the apple of his eye and he loved to be part of their adventures in life. In his spare time, Charlie loved to fish and would escape from the hustle of daily life as often as he could to enjoy a sea fishing trip. He was alo a great fan of music and his taste was eclectic from the undeniable tones of the great tenors to legendary heavy rock and he loved nothing more than entertaining with a rendition of his favourite songs with a microphone in his hands and he was blessed with a truly great voice.
Antonio ‘Charlie’ was loved and cherished by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed but remebered for his warm smile and his loving and generous personality.

I was so saddened to hear of his passing. He was a dear friend to my dad for many years.
I also had the privilege of working alongside him for many years, as did my partner, and we will always remember his warmth, loyalty, and true passion for his work.
I like to think he’s catching up with my dad again, maybe out fishing together like old times.
Sending our love and deepest condolences to his wife Andrea, and his two sons Luca and Nico. May he rest in peace 🙏❤️
Condoglianze alla famiglia per la prematura scomparsa del loro caro familiare Antonio.
R.I .P 🙏
Rest in eternal peace Charlie,
Although, I only. Help with the grounds since the back end of last year. Which btw I’m glad I came along when I did because I know how you appreciated what I did. I knew you for a short time.but I can honestly say you were an absolute legend of a human being. I’m thinking of all your family right now and I myself will miss you dearly. But, the one thing that’s going to stay with me is how you gave me a massive man hug only a few weeks ago and said thank you for the work I did. I will remember you always Charlie. God bless you and I hope to see you in my dreams, love Brad x
Cugino…..eri e resterai il sorriso più puro e sincero….riposa in pace 💖
Charlie was my first boss – he was a lovely, down to earth man and very passionate about what he did. A great person to have as a first boss.
Though I wasn’t there for long, my experience at Vetrano has left a positive impact on me and I’ll remember working there for as long as I possibly can.
My condolences to Charlie’s family and rest in peace ❤️
You’re already so missed Charlie!
I selfishly miss having someone to discuss treatment with (someone who understands it but is optimistic at the same time) …But I miss more than just that. I miss the way you opened your heart to people, the way you’d light up when you spoke about your family or the food you created. I miss the surprise extras to taste test when we ordered food. I miss my parents having an incredible friend in you.
Thank you for opening your family up to us. Thank you for giving us a home from home within your restaurant. Thank you for supporting us through my cancer journey (you were the first person to check in with mum after my surgery and you will never know just what that meant to her). Thank you for making special food for me when I couldn’t tolerate anything through chemo…. But really what I should say is thank you for being you. No one could fill the gap you will leave in this world and because of that my heart breaks for those closest to you. But I promise we will be there for them, we will be strong if they can’t. My family and I are always open to yours.
Rest in peace Charlie.
P.s. I hope the fishing is good up there and you get to cook what you catch!
You were always very welcoming and a nice man. You will be missed. Rest in peace Charlie.
