Roy Eccles

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 7th February 2026, Roy, aged 86 years, of Rishton. A devoted and much-loved husband of Jacqueline, a loving and beloved dad to Irene and Janet, dear father-in-law to Andrew, adored grandad to Maddison, and a cherished uncle to Denise, Rachel and Ashton. Roy was also a dear relative and friend to many. Roy also leaves in family in Australia niece Janet, nephew Neil, sister-in-law Jean and their families.

Following the completion of his National Service, Roy began his working life as a driver, firstly for Slingers Butchers and later spending over 25 years working at Holland’s Pies. Roy loved driving and the freedom of the open road, and wherever he worked he was always a well-respected member of the team, making many good friends along the way. Roy was a devoted family man and his world revolved around his girls. He loved nothing more than a family gathering, especially when there was a celebration to enjoy. He also loved to dance with his beloved wife and soulmate, Jacqueline, and when they took to the dance floor together, they never failed to catch the eye of many. Holidays were always a special time for Roy and he enjoyed many wonderful trips to Australia to visit family, always looking forward to the stopovers in Singapore and Bangkok. At home, he enjoyed nights out at Rishton Tory Club and the WMC, where he could enjoy a game of snooker and cards, share a pint, and chat with his many friends. Roy always had a plan up his sleeve and was the original “Del Boy”, often with a side hustle on the go to make a few extra quid.

Roy was loved and cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.
