Memorial Book
On 23rd January 2026 in the Royal Blackburn Hospital Ian passed away with his wife and daughters by his side, aged 69 years. Ian was a proud Accrington Lad, born and bred and a dedicated family man. He was a loving husband of 46 years to Carol, a devoted Dad, Brother, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Father-in-Law, Brother-in-Law and much loved relative and friend to many.
Ian was an avid enthusiast of athletics serving as Chairman of the Hyndburn Athletics Club for several years and would enjoy coaching his daughters as well as officiating competitions and even competing himself, before following his youngest daughter in the local amateur dramatics society where he would turn his skills to assisting with backstage roles from creating backdrops for scenery to his love of managing the props team. A hard working man his whole life he loved to help others resulting in his last career as a Driver Attendant for the Accessible Transport Team with Lancashire County Council, supporting both children with special needs and vulnerable adults, transporting them to school or day services. Always keen to try new things, Ian enjoyed eating out at various restaurants, travelling to new places and trips to the theatre, with Les Miserables being a particular favourite.
A caring husband and beloved family man he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Family flowers only please. Donations are to Guts UK via the link in support of Ian’s oldest daughter, Shelley running the Great North Run 2026 in Ian’s memory.
