Jean Boote

Peacefully in her sleep on 11th January 2026, Jean, aged 82 years, of Padiham. A loving and devoted wife of the late Richard ‘Dick’, a much-loved mum to David and Caroline, a dear mother-in-law to Claire and Jason, and a cherished grandma to Adam, Isabel, Ryan, Max and Charlie. A beloved sister to Margaret and Robert, and a dear relative and friend to many.

A well-known and much-loved face around Padiham, Jean was a devoted family lady who was always on hand to offer support. She spent her working life in various caring and domestic roles, including children’s homes, schools and as a home care support worker. With her naturally kind, caring and generous nature, she was always a firm favourite with colleagues and those she cared for. Always on the go, Jean was extremely house-proud and her home was always immaculate, with everything in its place. With her beloved husband Dick serving in the Royal Navy, Jean often raised her family and ran the household alone, ensuring everything ran like clockwork. Trips to the bingo were always eagerly anticipated with her friends, and she was a familiar face at Gala Bingo in Burnley. Jean also enjoyed many wonderful holidays, from travelling around Europe to soak up the warmer climate, to cruises around the Mediterranean and coach tours across the USA. Born in Scotland, she remained immensely proud of her roots and, in her younger years, always looked forward to returning ‘home’ to visit her family.
