June Catherine Ellis

Peacefully in hospital, surrounded by her loving family, on 1st January 2026, June, aged 78 years, of Baxenden, formerly of Blackburn. June was the devoted wife of Ronnie and a much-loved mum to Shirley, David, Audrey and Jason. Also a dear mother-in-law, a proud and cherished grandma and great-grandma, a loving sister to Peter and Jimmy, a dear sister-in-law, and treasured relative and friend to many.

Born and raised in Blackburn, June made her home there for most of her life before moving to Baxenden in her retirement. She dedicated many years to caring for others through her work with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Lancashire County Council, as a home help, a role that perfectly suited her kind, patient and generous nature. June loved to travel, especially to Ireland and Spain, and she took great pleasure in researching the Irish family history. She was a dab hand with a needle, and naturally creative and highly skilled with her hands, creating beautiful embroidery, cross stitch, sewing and quilting. A lifelong animal lover, June always had a dog by her side in retirement. Above all else, family was everything to June. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her love for them knew no bounds. June will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her warmth, creativity, kindness and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
