Memorial Book

Peacefully on 30th November 2025, surrounded by his loving family, Giovanni aged 76 years of Accrington. The devoted and much loved husband of Lucia, loved and loving dad of Jason, dear father-in-law of David, a loved brother-in-law, uncle, relative and friend.

Born in Sicily, Giovanni made the move to the UK at the age of 18, settling in Accrington, the town that would become his beloved home for the rest of his life. He spent his working life at the Blue Dahlia in Accrington, first as cafe manager before progressing to operations manager. Giovanni loved his work and was always ready with a warm smile to welcome customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Dedicated and passionate about his role, Giovanni continued working until the age of 70, never truly wanting to retire.

A keen traveller, Giovanni explored many wonderful destinations across the world. Wherever he went, he delighted in immersing himself in the local culture and cuisine. A true foodie, he loved dining out with family and friends, and if there was a new restaurant opening, Giovanni would always be at the front of the queue. He was also a master in the kitchen and nothing gave him more pleasure than gathering his family and friends together to enjoy one of his legendary Italian meals, lovingly prepared with the same warmth and generosity that defined his character.

Family flowers only please, donations are being received in Giovanni’s memory on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice.
