Aveling Verity

Peacefully in hospital on 8th November 2025, Aveling aged 95 years of Rishton. The devoted wife of the late Bob, loving mum of John and Phillip, dear mother-in-law of the two Sue’s and a cherished gran of Charlotte and Edwin.

Born and raised in Rishton, though she spent some years living away after her marriage, her heart never truly left, and she returned more than 50 years ago to the place she loved most. There she remained, making a warm and welcoming home for the rest of her life. Aveling was the most devoted and proud mum, and her family was the centre of her world. She ran the family home with quiet dedication and effortless grace, everything had its place, everything was done with care. Ever house-proud, she was often seen in her pinny, tending to her chores or preparing a delicious home-cooked meal, and her pinny pockets always seemed to hold an endless supply of mints. A talented and passionate knitter, Aveling loved nothing more than settling into her favourite chair to work on her latest woollen creation. She was a true master of multitasking, knitting away while chatting happily and keeping up with the television all at once. Her hands were never still, and her creations were made with love. Every year, Aveling looked forward to her cherished trips to Llandudno, often visiting at least three times annually. The Empire Hotel became her home away from home, a place filled with wonderful memories that she treasured deeply.

Aveling’s life was one of love, devotion, and simple joys, small routines, warm comforts, and cherished moments that will be held close by all who knew and loved her.
