Memorial Book
Peacefully in hospital, Bet, aged 91 years, of Green Haworth and formerly of Glazebury.
The devoted wife of Jack, loving mum of Valerie, dear mother-in-law of Ian, cherished grandma of Lindsey and her husband Dan, adored great-grandma of Zoe, and a respected friend to many.
Bet was a lady who gave so much of her time to others. She loved to be active and to keep herself busy. A former Brown Owl and District Assistant Commissioner for the Brownies, Bet’s natural organisational skills made her an inspiring leader. She was also a proud member of the WI and played an active role in many local charity events, always the first to offer help in planning and organising community gatherings. Having spent most of her life in Glazebury and Astley before moving to Green Haworth, Bet held a deep affection for her roots. A devoted cat lover and lifelong supporter of Cats Protection ad other cat charities, she opened her home, and her heart, to countless strays, ensuring each found a safe and loving new home.
Bet and Jack enjoyed their annual holidays to North Wales. Bet liked her feet firmly on the ground, she was never one for flying or sailing, preferring to travel by road and take in the scenery along the way. Straight talking and honest, Bet always said things as they were, and with her, you always knew exactly where you stood.
Loved deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, Bet will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Family flowers only, please.
Donations are being gratefully received in her memory on behalf of Happy Cats Hyndburn or North West Air Ambulance.

In loving memory of Auntie Betty. Our thoughts are with family at this sad time. She will be sadly missed.
Lovely memories of my Grandma and Great Grandma to Zoe.
