Memorial Book

Peacefully in hospital surrounded by her loving family on 24th September 2025, Peggy aged 77 years of Great Harwood. The devoted wife of the late John, loving and loved mum of Sharon, Tracy, Jules and the late Mark, dear mother-in-law of Neil and David, cherished grandma of Sam, Abbi and her husband Adam, great grandma of  Henry, loved sister of Mary and Alec, sister-in-law of Kath and a dear auntie, relative and friend to many.

A familiar face in the farming community, Peggy was loved and respected by all who knew her. She served as Sheep Secretary at the Great Harwood Agricultural Show and dedicated much of her time to organising charity events in support of stroke charities. Peggy’s working life began at Maureen Cookson’s before she moved to the accounts department at Express Gifts. She was always busy, and her greatest joy was in caring for others. Renowned for her cooking, she made sure family and farm staff alike were well fed each day, with her legendary quiche, plate meat pie and exceptional baking becoming the stuff of local legend. A devoted grandma, Peggy gave endless time and love to her grandchildren, Abbi and Sam, whether it was school runs, babysitting, or simply being there when needed. As they grew older, her care extended to her beloved “grand-dogs,” with Fudge holding a particularly special place in her heart. She loved her holidays, especially with her close friends, affectionately known as “The Golden Oldies.” Each year they looked forward to festive getaways in Southport or Blackpool, filled with laughter, companionship, and cherished memories.

Peggy will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Family flowers only please, donations are being gratefully received in Peggy’s memory on half of Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
