Memorial Book

Granville, aged 83, of Accrington, passed away peacefully at Hope House, surrounded by the love of his family.

A devoted husband to the late Linda, Granville was a dearly loved dad to Paul and Jill, and a kind and caring father in law to Judith and the late Barry. He was a proud and much adored grandad to Laura, Autumn, Claire, Alex, and Ben, and a cherished great grandad to Lana, Elodie, Lottie, Archie, Ashton, Noah, and Oliver. Granville was also a beloved brother and a gentle, constant presence in the lives of all who knew him. His warmth, quiet strength, and unconditional love for his family will be treasured always.

Born and raised in Accrington, Granville spent his life in the local area, where he built strong friendships and lasting connections through work and community.

His life changed forever one snowy winter’s day in Rhyddings Park, where he met the love of his life, Linda. While laughter filled the air and snowball fights, Linda stood out from the crowd in a bright red coat and from that moment on, the two were inseparable. They fell in love, married, and shared 50 wonderful years together.

Their joy was complete with the arrival of Paul and Jill, and Granville embraced family life wholeheartedly. Some of their happiest memories were made on holidays around the UK with Devon being a particular favourite. Granville was known for his playful spirit, and his famous “shoe puppet shows” became a cherished family tradition, bringing endless laughter to Paul and Jill.

In later years, Granville and Linda discovered a shared love of travel, exploring beautiful places across Europe, including Spain and Italy, and making treasured visits to family in Australia.

A true sportsman at heart, Granville was a loyal supporter of Burnley Football Club and a proud season ticket holder. Whether cheering from the stands, travelling with Linda, or enjoying quiet moments at home, his greatest joy was always found in time spent with those he loved most, including his loyal and beloved grandogs.

Granville will be remembered for his big heart and his unwavering love for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love that will live on in all who knew him.

Uncle Granville will be remembered by me for his fearce love of Sir Cliff Richard and Meeting Princess Di. His sooty and sweep shows behind the sofa. Taking us to watch superman at the cinema. But best memory was of him in the middle of the river at Bolton Abbey in what I thought was his underpants but turned out to be swim shorts. Which I swear were orange and flowery lol.

Wish we could be there to give you a good send off today Granville. You were always there for us, espcially when I was in trouble as a little girl and would wind up round at your house: You would never get angry, even when I spilt vimto on your carpet (which was regularly!) You and Linda truly were the kindest, most fun living people in the world and I feel blessed to have had you as role models for all these years. Thank you for the memories, Cliff Richard concerts, parties, bonfires and always you being the life and soul. I hope you are at peace now with your Linda…..know that you will always live on in your incredible children, Granchildren and Great Granchildren and remain in our hearts forever xxx
