Memorial Book

On 31st August 2025, in East Lancashire Hospice, Sandie, passed away peacefully with her loving mum by her side, aged 44years of Prestwich. She was the dearly loved and loving mum of Leo, cherished daughter of Brenda and stepdad Greg, much loved sister of Danny and Matt, loving and proud ‘fur baby mum’ of Barry and the dearest friend of Paula and Sandra.

After finishing school, Sandie went on to study Law in Preston, where she also lived and worked in various roles, including at a children’s home and within Emergency Response for the council. She adored her sunshine holidays and cruises shared with her mum and Leo. Sandie was the one everyone turned to, whether for help with college work, decorating, building furniture, or simply some honest advice, Sandie was your person. She spoke her mind, saw life as it truly was, and had a warm sense of humour, and she always stood up for the underdog. Sandie and her best friend Paula shared many wonderful adventures over their 35 years of friendship, navigating the highs and lows of life together. Sandie also shared a very special bond with her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Barry. Naturally intelligent, Sandie loved watching quiz shows on television, answering questions with ease, and often reaching the top 1% in The 1% Club. Following her heart, Sandie went on to train as a teacher at Manchester University. Bright, clever, and dedicated to her studies, she graduated with First Class Honours. Even after receiving her diagnosis of breast cancer, she showed incredible strength and resilience, continuing her studies while undergoing gruelling treatment, always filled with hope.
She later moved to Accrington to be close to her mum during her treatment, and she was truly blessed by the unwavering friendship of Sandra, who was always there to support, encourage and help her. Sandie spent her final four weeks in the tender care of the Hospice, surrounded by love and compassion. A beautiful life ended too soon, yet Sandie’s warmth and love will forever be written into the story of all who knew her.

  • Auntie Clair xx says:

One of our funniest memories was us both watching the video of Matt and Jennie on holiday. We cried with laughter at Matt sounding so responsible screaming “Jennnnniee Jennnnie! That’s enough now!” We would just say it to each other and cry laughing again.
Countless memories of me babysitting and of course, our weekends in Preston at Roper Hall.
To Danny and Matt, I am so proud of your strength and the way you have coped this past year. Sending love to Brenda, Greg, Leo and Vinny.
RIP Sandie, give your “Uncy” Ian and Zara-lil a big kiss from me. ❤️

  • Sandra says:
