On the 13th September 2016 suddenly at his home following a long illness Brian aged 75 years of Rishton. The much loved dad of Annie and Lindsey, dear father-in-law of Darren and Simon, cherished grandad of Joe, Harris and Ruby and great-grandad of Aubrey, dear brother of Barbara, brother-in-law of Grahame and a good friend to many.
Brian was born into a farming family and followed the family tradition throughout his life. He also worked as butcher and slaughter man. Away from his work Brian enjoyed fishing and especially enjoyed Salmon fishing and loved to cook his catch of the day. His fishing took him to Ireland, Scotland and all over the UK. He even fished in Norway. Brian loved holidays and in his younger years he would spend them relaxing with his family, later discovering his beloved Thailand where he would visit several times each year. A enthusiastis gardener, many happy hours were spent tending to his much loved flowers and growing his very own delicious fruit and vegetables. Brian always had a beautiful display of Orchids in his home. He was a loveable character with a ready smile and always had a joke at the ready. Brian will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

On 4th September 2016 peacefully at Northwood Nursing Home Harry aged 91 years of Rishton. The dearly loved husband of Mavis, loving dad of Adele and Andrew, dear father-in-law of Stephen and Maria, cherished grandpa of Laura, Thomas, Hayden and Tilly and treasured brother of Marion and Jack. 

Harry was former education officer for Ribble Valley and Hyndburn .He enjoyed his work and made many good friends with whom he remained in contact with following his retirement. He was an active member of St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Rishton, serving on the PCC and was a sidesman for many years. He also served as a school governor. Harry had also been a former member of St Michael’s Church, Blackburn in his younger years. He met his wife Mavis at a dance at King Georges Hall and they enjoyed a wonderful and happy fifty-two years of marriage together, celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary with a family party at the Gibbon Bridge Hotel. Family holidays were spent around the UK and later Harry and Mavis travelled abroad for their holidays, enjoying many cruises and they always looked forward to some rest and relaxation in their favourite country Cyprus. Harry was always smartly dressed  and could often be seen pottering about the house and garden carrying out his odd jobs fully dressed in his shirt and tie. He was a proud dad & grandpa and adored the family visits. Harry will be sadly missed by all his family and many friends and will be remembered for his life of dedication and commitment to the things he loved.

Lover of the outdoors

On 1st September 2016 peacefully at East Lancashire Hospice surrounded by his loving family, Michael aged 72 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted and much loved husband of Susan, loving dad of John and Helen, dear father-in-law of Katherine and Paul, cherished grandpa of Matthew, Adam and Stella, dear brother of Susan and a treasured relative and good friend to many. 

Michael worked for Newman’s Footwear, Blackburn, for over thirty years leading to his retirement. He was a very active man who appreciated the outdoors and loved nothing more than escaping on a long walk around the fells of the Lake District and the hills of the Yorkshire Dales. An active supporter of Accrington Stanley and member of Clayton Harriers, Michael enjoyed competing in many fell races and completed several marathons. On less active days he loved to get together with friends for a jam session on the guitar playing his favourite folk songs. Michael loved life and lived every day to its full. He had a positive outlook and remained the same throughout his illness. He will be greatly missed by all his family and his many friends.

On 29th August 2016 suddenly at her home Jackie aged 46 years of Accrington and formerly Clayton-le-moors. The dearly loved daughter of Ron and the late Rose, much loved partner of Mark, loving step-mum of Rachel and the dearest younger sister of Sharon and Debbie, loving sister-in-law of Nev and Ted. Jackie was also a cherished Auntie to Rachel, Daniel and Annie and a true and loyal friend to many. 
Jackie worked as a packer for over sixteen years at Senator in Blackburn. She always looked forward to getting to work and hearing the latest gossip floating around the factory and catching up with her many friends. Holidays were eagerly looked forward to and her favourite destination was her beloved Benidorm. Days would be spent relaxing in the sunshine and in the evenings she enjoyed the entertainment. Jackie was a well know local girl who loved going out to socialise  and her favourite pub was the Castle where she was a former member of the darts and pool teams. Cupid fired his arrow over eleven years ago when Mark and Jackie realised  they were more than just friends and they enjoyed a wonderful and happy relationship together. 
Jackie will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

Caring man who loved his new cars

Suddenly at his home on 23rd August 2016 Roy aged 74 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly loved and devoted son of the late Tom and Kath Smith and treasured friend to Kalum.
Roy retired from work at the age of thirty five years from the family business and enjoyed a long and fulfilled retirement. Each year he would treat himself to a brand new car which he would spend hours meticulously choosing his latest model. A quiet and gentle character who will be fondly missed.
