Devoted and proud grandad

Peacefully on 14th September 2017 at Hope House, Edward aged 89 years, formerly of Great Harwood and Rishton.  The devoted husband of the late Marjorie, loving dad of John, Michael, Kathryn and Deborah, a dear father-in-law, much loved and adored grandad and great grandad, and a much loved brother and brother-in-law.

Edward trained as a plumber after leaving school and later worked at G.E.C. where he thoroughly enjoyed his work as an aircraft inspector right up until his retirement.   Edward loved to go ballroom dancing with his wife Marjorie and together they would travel to Blackpool to dance in the Tower Ballroom.  He was also passionate about his football and was a lifelong Rovers fan and former season ticket holder.  Edward was a down to earth character who liked the simple things in life, and especially enjoyed walking his dogs.  He was also a devoted and proud grandad who loved all his grandchildren and loved to spend time with them.

Peacefully at his home on 12th September 2017, Michael aged 50 years of Accrington.  The much loved son of Margaret, dearly loved brother of Beverley and cherished uncle of Dominic and also a dear nephew of Daniel, Derrick, Jimmy and Mick.

Well known and much loved Northern Soul Fanatic

On 12th September 2017 David, of Accrington, passed away peacefully in Addison Court Nursing Home. The dear son of the late Francis and Delys, much loved brother of Joseph, Yvonne, Renette and Kevin, a much loved brother in law of Andrew and a loving uncle of John, Paul, Shaun and Simone and great uncle to Baby Tyson. 
A well known face in the Northern Soul scene, David could often be found enjoying the sounds of Northern Soul with his friends on the dance floor, he was known for his impressive record collection and his extensive knowledge of music. David grew up in the Spring Hill area of Accrington and later worked at Platt’s as an engineer and also worked at TML where he made many friends over the years. David enjoyed a pint and could often be found in his local taking part in the quiz or watching his beloved Manchester United and he even appeared on the TV quiz show 'Battle of the Brains'.

David's Funeral Cortege will assemble at 25 Mansion Street South, Accrington BB5 6SH at 2.30pm before travelling to Accrington Crematorium.

Former Baker

Peacefully in hospital with his loving wife by his side on 9th September 2017, Bob aged 91 years of Baxenden, formerly of Intack.  The devoted husband of Dorothy and also the late Marion, step-dad of Carolyn, and brother-in-law of Audrey.

Bob worked as a baker throughout his working life. He ran his own bakers for many years and later worked for Warburtons. In his spare time Bob enjoyed ballroom dancing, walking and gardening.  He always kept his garden immaculate and blooming with colour.  Bob enjoyed his holidays, especially to Sweden to visit friends, and he loved to drive out to the Ribble Valley and dine out with Dorothy.  Bob was also a lifelong supporter of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

On 1st September 2017, Sandra aged 73 years of Read, formerly of Las Vegas. The cherished and adored mum of Jill and Louise, loved mother-in-law of Mark and Tony, special nana of Bradley, Taylor, Demaine and Bowie, loved sister of Valerie and Jeffrey and also a loved sister-in-law and auntie.

Sandra had an infectious zest for living and lived each day to its full.  She was a beautiful lady inside and out.  She worked at the Dunkenhalgh as head waitress for many years and then at the Walton Arms. Sandra then became a nanny in New York and lived a film star lifestyle and for the last 23 years she lived in Las Vegas. She loved beauty and fashion and cut a very striking figure with her blonde hair and red lipstick.  She was very avant garde in her style. She loved her holidays and Hawaii was her most adored destination. Sandra will be sorely missed.
